Itinerary

The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.

Day 1, Tuesday July 12: Overnight Flight

Depart from the USA.

Day 2, Wednesday July 13: Paris

Your ACIS Tour Manager greets you with a Bienvenue! Paris, known as the “City of Light” for its role as a center of education and culture during the Enlightenment, greets you today. Discover the Métro or hit the cobblestone streets with your tour manager and try a café au lait. In the evening, see the City of Light from a totally different perspective on a river cruise on the Seine. (D)

Day 3, Thursday July 14: Paris

After a free morning enjoy sightseeing with a local expert shows you the city's most impressive monuments, from the magnificent Arc de Triomphe at the top of the Champs-Élysées to the massive Les Invalides (where Napoleon is buried) to the Gothic wonder of Notre Dame. (B,D)

Day 4, Friday July 15: Caen

This moring breeze by the crowds with your timed entrance to the Louvre and discover the many famous masterpieces that call it home. Insightful commentary from your local guide highlights the Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, Venus de Milo and more as you wander through the galleries. From its beginnings as a royal fortress to its current status as the world's most visited art museum, the Louvre has long been at the center of Parisian culture and home to a collection of 35,000 works of art from around the world. This afternoon drive to Caen for dinner and the overnight. (B,D)

Day 5, Saturday July 16: Caen

Walk in the footsteps of history today as you visit many of Normandy's important World War II sites. See what remains of the temporary Mulberry harbor constructed at Arromanches to help offload cargo during the invasion. Entrance to the Arromanches 360 Cinema is included. Next you can pay tribute to the heroic fallen at the American Cemetery and Memorial at Colleville-sur-Mer before descending from the bluff to walk along Omaha Beach, where American troops suffered some of the heaviest D-Day losses. You might even be able to picture the chaos of June 6, 1944, at the bomb-scarred landscape of Pointe du Hoc. Return to Caen for dinner. (B,D)

Day 6, Sunday July 17: London

This morning board a ferry to England. Upon arrival visit mysterious prehistoric Stonehenge, then continue to London and arrive in the bustling capital for dinner. (B,D)

Day 7, Monday July 18: London

Discover London today, you’ll take a panoramic sightseeing tour, led by a local guide, that shows you Trafalgar Square, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. In the afternoon learn all about England's royal family this morning during a Monarchy by Bike tour around Hyde Park and St. James's Park. Starting at Kensington Palace, home to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, pedal your way past many notable buildings and monuments linked to England's royal history and learn their stories. (B,D)

Day 8, Tuesday July 19: Edinburgh

This morning, journey by train to Edinburgh. Enjoy free time to wander through the charming streets of Edinburgh and become acquainted with this majestic city. (B,D)

Day 9, Wednesday July 20: Edinburgh

Begin the day with a guided sightseeing tour that shows you Princes Street and Charlotte Square and includes entrance to the imposing Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s Crown Jewels perched high up in the old town. In the afternoon, you’re free to stroll the Royal Mile in search of woolens and tartans or snap pictures of the city and the Firth of Forth from atop Calton Hill. (B,D)
