Itinerary

This itinerary is the starting point for your tour, but it’s not set in stone. If there are days you would like to change, or specific places you’d like to go, we can work with you to create a personalized program that fits the needs of you and your students.

Day 1: Washington, DC

Depart school and meet your ACIS Tour Manager at Mount Vernon, the Potomac River estate of George Washington. Continue to Arlington, Virginia to check into your hotel. On the way to dinner, stop for a photo opportunity at the south lawn of the White House. This evening will end with an illuminated monuments tour of the Jefferson Memorial, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.

Day 2: Washington, DC

After breakfast, take a group photograph in front of the United States Capitol, followed by a guided tour that will include the magnificent 180-foothigh rotunda, the old Supreme Court chambers, and if not in session, the House and Senate galleries. Please note: ACIS will make every effort to secure your group a tour at the U.S. Capitol; if this is not possible, groups will visit the Supreme Court or Library of Congress. After lunch on your own, spend the first part of the afternoon visiting the Smithsonian museum of your choice followed by a visit to the International Spy Museum, the world's largest collection of international espionage artifacts ever placed on public display. After dinner, continue your illuminated monuments tour that will include a visit to the Korean War Veteran's Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial.

Day 3: Departure

This morning, make a photo stop at the Iwo Jima Memorial before heading to the the unforgettable National Museum of African American History and Culture. After lunch on your own, visit transfer to the Arlington National Cemetery, where you will attend the solemn Changing of the Guard ritual.
