A link from past to present, feluccas were the traditional vessels used for navigating the calm waters of the Nile since the time of the pharaohs and are still in active use today. You will travel as the locals do, exploring the river near Elephantine Island on these unique wooden sailing boats. Elephantine Island served as a powerful fort on Ancient Egypt's southern borders and is home to one of the few remaining Nilometers, a traditional device for measuring the rise and fall of the mighty river's water level.
