Itinerary
The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.
Day 1, Thursday April 2: Overnight Flight
Depart from the USA.
Day 2, Friday April 3: Cascais
Embark upon your Spain and Portugal adventure as you arrive in Lisbon and set off on your first day of exploration. Transfer to city center for lunch on your own before seeing the highlights of Portugal on your guided city sightseeing tour. Round out the day with an early dinner in Lisbon before continuing to Cascais for the overnight.
Day 3, Saturday April 4: Faro
This morning depart for the Faro area. This afternoon visit a coastal town before checking into your hotel, dinner and the overnight. (B,D)
Day 4, Sunday April 5: Cadiz
Following breakfast at the hotel enjoy a relaxing morning to explore the town. Depart for Seville after lunch on your own and arrive in time for a sightseeing tour of Seville with expert commentary provided via personal headsets, which includes highlights such as the immense Cathedral, the third-largest church in the world and burial place of Christopher Columbus, and the grand Giralda Tower. Enjoy dinner before continuing to Cadiz for a late arrival and hotel check-in. (B,D)
Day 5, Monday April 6: Cadiz
Today enjoy a free day in Cadiz, the oldest continually inhabited settlement in Europe. A walking tour with your Tour Manager shows you the picturesque old city, the golden cupola of the cathedral, the central market and the famous church of San Felipe Neri where the first Spanish Constitution was signed. Dinner at hotel. (B,D)
Day 6, Tuesday April 7: Granada
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Cadiz before heading to Granada, known for its exotic blend of Moorish, Andalusian and Muslim cultures. Stop along the way for free time and lunch on your own along the Costa del Sol. Upon arrival check-in at the hotel and enjoy dinner as a group. (B,D)
Day 7, Wednesday April 8: Granada
This morning a local guide will provide commentary via personal headsets during a sightseeing tour that includes a visit to the Alhambra, one of the greatest accomplishments of Islamic art and architecture, and the fragrant Generalife Gardens. Later explore the unique caves of the Sacromonte area, where you’ll learn one of Spain’s most enduring traditions—flamenco dancing. An expert teaches you the moves during your flamenco lesson
before you enjoy a special dinner, and then compare your new talent with your instructors’ at a flamenco show. (B,D)
Day 8, Thursday April 9: Under Own Arrangements
Early departure from Granada for Toledo. Get to know the old Visigothic capital with an expert local guide giving commentary via personal headsets, explore the Medieval Synagogue, visit El Greco's great painting in the Church of Santo Tomé and have a complete tour of the treasures of the Gothic Cathedral. Round out the visit with a zipline experience, (Tirolina Toledo). This evening contiue to El Escorial for your homestay portion of the trip arranged by your group leader. (B)
