Edinburgh to London

June 5 - 13, 2023

Itinerary

The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.

Day 1, Monday June 5: Overnight Flight

Depart from the USA.

Day 2, Tuesday June 6: Edinburgh

Upon arriving in Edinburgh, meet your ACIS Tour manager for an orientation, then set out to familiarize yourself with Scotland’s capital, renowned for its rich history and literary heritage. Perhaps stroll through the Grassmarket or Victoria Street shopping districts. It’s said Victoria Street–a narrow and winding lane lined with tall buildings–inspired J.K. Rowling’s vision of Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter series of books; the nearby Elephant House Café is where she wrote parts of the first Potter novel. (D)

Day 3, Wednesday June 7: Edinburgh

Sightseeing shows you Princes Street and Charlotte Square before a visit to Edinburgh Castle, perched high up in the old town. This afternoon embark on an exciting interactive adventure when you visit Dynamic Earth. A Planetarium show is included in the visit. In the evening, cap off the day by learning the poetic history of Scotland’s national dish with a traditional haggis tasting and dinner. (B,D)

Day 4, Thursday June 8: York

Journey south through the Northumberland countryside. You will make a photo stop at Alnwick Castle, which was used in some of the Harry Potter movies. Arrive in the walled city of York and uncover the secrets of its quaint cobbled streets during a sightseeing tour including entrance to York Minster. This grand English Gothic cathedral is among the oldest and largest of its kind in Europe. (B,D)

Day 5, Friday June 9: Stratford-Upon-Avon

Continue to the charming town of Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare's Birthplace and his burial site at Holy Trinity Church. (B,D)

Day 6, Saturday June 10: London

Get your imagination fired up as you depart for Oxford, where you will enjoy a walking tour with your Tour Manager and an inside visit of New College Oxford. Arrive in London this afternoon and begin to discover the wonders of this thriving city. Enjoy a ride on the London Eye before dinner. An included three-day London transport travel card allows you to explore with ease. (D)

Day 7, Sunday June 11: London

This morning, go to Leadenhall to meet your Harry Potter guide for a fun two hour walking tour with 'Tours for Muggles'. Later take the Thames Clipper to Greenwich. Visit the Royal Observatory, home of Greenwich Mean Time. Tonight enjoy a performance of The Comedy Of Errors at the Shakespeare's Globe. (B,D)

Day 8, Monday June 12: London

This morning's focus is a 'London Highlights' bike tour which will include the Royal Festival Hall, London Eye, Westminster Bridge, Churchill’s statue, Birdcage Walk, Horseguards Parade, Trafalgar Square and Westminster Abbey. This afternoon visit St. Paul's Cathedral. Sir Christopher Wren's architectural masterpiece is an enduring symbol of London, the seat of the Church of England and famed for its dome and Whispering Gallery. Audioguides will be provided for the visit. If you have time, your ticket includes access to climb to the top of the dome. Tonight enjoy a theater performance, Mamma Mia, at the Novello Theatre. (B,D)

Day 9, Tuesday June 13: Departure
