Your Girl Scout Troop or Council Could Partner With ACIS
Educational travel is the perfect way to put the Girl Scouts values and promises into action, from trying new experiences to extending empathy across cultures.
“Working with Girl Scouts councils is a natural fit for us at ACIS. Our organizations both want to develop the next generation of leaders and provide a supportive environment for young women to grow and learn from those in other countries.” ACIS Director of Partnerships Tricia Holda says. “ACIS is able to run unique trips that match the goals of troops and councils from across the US.”
Case in point, in the summer of 2025, Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana partnered with ACIS to sponsor a Destination in Costa Rica, open to Girl Scouts from across the U.S. Together we built a custom itinerary for the group called Sustainability and Leadership in Costa Rica that was full of opportunities to engage with local community leaders, entrepreneurs and grassroot change-makers. Highlights included:
- A visit to the Costa Rican Humanitarian Foundation
- Global exchange with a local sports NGO
- A learning workshop with a family-run responsible fishery
- Marine conservation lesson
- Sea turtle workshop and beach patrol
- Teamwork challenge course in the cloud forest of Monteverde
- A leadership workshop with a sustainable honey producer
What’s more, ACIS also worked with the Council group leaders to incorporate Girl Scout traditions into the tour. In Monteverde, the girls learned wildlife rescue tactics and jungle first aid from a local scouting club leader, earning a one-of-a-kind patch. Then, in keeping with Girl Scouts tradition, the trip concluded on the Guanacaste Coast with an epic campfire, friendship circle and of course, lots of singing.
Learn more about this partnership through our new video, which we had the opportunity to create alongside the Sustainability and Leadership group in Costa Rica.
“Travel with ACIS and travel with Girl Scouts is unlike any other experience I’ve ever had. I think it’s honestly what makes me passionate about the ocean and the environment, and I’m just so happy to be here.”

“I’ve seen girls come out of their shell. I’ve seen girls improve their Spanish. I saw someone conquer their fear of heights. It’s amazing to watch it and seeing them light up – like that was what I wanted for them.”
– Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana Group Leader

Your Girl Scout troop or council could hit the road with ACIS too! We are continuing to expand our list of partner organizations, including the School Superintendents Association, Facing History and Ourselves and the Houston Independent School District. We’d love to help you build a travel program that fits your unique needs.
