1. Tell us about yourself. What’s your role at ACIS?

Hi! I’m Leah, and I’m excited to be part of the ACIS team as an International Program Consultant. I began my journey at ACIS as a Traveler Support Specialist, where I supported students and their families as they prepared for their trips. That experience inspired me to join the International Program Team so I could work more closely with teachers. I really enjoy collaborating with educators and learning what motivates them to travel with their students.

2. Tell us about your travel history. Show us why you believe travel changes lives

I’ve been fortunate to have travel as a constant part of my life from a very young age. One of my most impactful early experiences was taking my first solo trip at 16 to Cusco, Peru, where I spent my school break teaching English. That experience opened my eyes to new perspectives and showed me how meaningful cultural exchange can be.

Since then, I’ve spent much of my adult life living abroad, working as a scuba dive instructor. Along the way, I’ve immersed myself in different cultures, built connections with people from around the world, and discovered a deep appreciation for the diversity each country offers. Travel has continually shaped how I see the world, teaching me adaptability, empathy, and the joy of stepping outside my comfort zone.

3. What made you want to work in travel?

Having traveled to more than 35 countries, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the perspectives and connections that travel can create. Each experience has taught me something new—about cultures, communication, and the value of stepping outside familiar surroundings. Those experiences are what drew me to work in travel. I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned, helping others feel confident exploring the world, and creating opportunities for meaningful, eye-opening journeys.

4. What’s a planning tip you always give to teachers when building a travel partnership?

Take it slow—more isn’t always better. Leaving room in the itinerary for meaningful experiences and flexibility often leads to a more impactful and enjoyable trip for everyone.

5. What is your favorite travel destination?

It’s hard to choose just one favorite, as different places have stood out to me for different reasons. For culture and diversity, Brazil has been incredibly memorable, with its vibrant energy and rich mix of influences. For food and genuinely warm, welcoming locals, Vietnam holds a special place in my heart. And for scuba diving, nothing compares to the Maldives, where the underwater world is truly unforgettable.
