So You’re Planning an ACIS Tour: What Do You Do Now?

July 28, 2026 Jill Federschneider No Comments

We’re often asked about ACIS trip recruitment over summer break, and the answer is, it’s a great idea! With families in summer mode, it’s the perfect time to get their attention, so they can save the date of your upcoming trip and sign up.

What else could you be doing now to keep the momentum going? Check out the International Program Team’s top tips!

Keep Communicating

  • Do you have a communication director at your school? Reach out to this person to see if they can include your trip information in the newsletters/bulletins/information being sent out now
  • Send a “Save the Date!” style message for everyone about your trip
  • Send an email to all your upcoming classes about the trip and how you are taking the curriculum outside of the classroom
  • Contact all parents now introducing/reminding them of the trip as they aren’t receiving as many communications as during the school year.
  • Tip: Use a catchy subject line! “Didn’t expect to hear from teachers over the summer?”  “Next spring you could be in _____!”

Make a plan for talking about the trip during back-to-school night and open house

  • Collect information from interested families now, even if you haven’t officially launched your trip yet via the Recruitment Tool in your online account

Do you need School Board Approval

  • Find out what the process is to get approval and the appropriate deadline dates, and get organized now!
  • If your trip is already approved, talk to your administration about ways they can help promote the trip.  School social media, newsletters, kiosks, billboards, school announcements, etc.

Stay Connected and Make it Festive!

  • Host a fun event with local delicacies from the country you’re planning on visiting with your students!
  • Connect with your students via a social media page and repost content from the destination you’re planning on traveling to
  • Need classroom decor ideas? Use photos from previous trips, and if you haven’t traveled before, use photos and posters of where you’re going! Start inspiring conversations about travel by showing them the opportunities that await, and request posters from us here
  • Let your Program Consultant know when school starts back in session so they can mail your promotional materials in time!

As always, the ACIS Group Leader Academy has great tips for recruiting your group! We are so excited to be planning an educational adventure with you and are here for anything you need.
