HOW TO GET TO THE AIRPORT (Aeroport El Prat) – ARRIVAL

• Taxis are not to be taken without specific instructions from the London or Spain Supervisor.

• If you have any queries regarding your transfers, please contact the Area Office well in advance.

• Please call the Area Office the evening before your arrival to get the telephone number of your driver for pick up the next day.

• Check in advance which terminal your group is arriving ( it is mostly terminal one). You can search the flight number directly on your phone for up-to-date information

• Please call the driver when you get to the airport, before your group arrives, to make sure that you have all the details correct and clarify your pickup point.

The Aerobus (blue buses A1 – to terminal 1 & A2 – to Terminal 2) run from Plaça Catalunya on the El Corte Ingles side of the plaza to the airport. Buses start at 5am and leave up to every 5 minutes, every day. Even though a journey of 35 minutes is advertised, allow 45 minutes for the journey, especially during rush hour. Cost: One-way €9,24 – €14,49 return. (Return ticket valid for 15 days after outward journey, be especially vigilant of your belongings – even on the bus!

Renfe Cercanias line C2 runs from Passeig de Gracia, via Sants Station to the airport every hour and half hour between 05.08 and 23.07, single ticket €4.90. Train stops at Terminal T2. If you need to go to T1, there is a free, green shuttle bus provided that will take you to T1 – journey time is about 10 minutes.

There is a metro line L9 running from Zona Universitaria to the airport (T1 and T2). The journey from one end of the line to the other takes about 35 minutes. The ticket is not included on the T-10 and costs 5,15€ one way. If you have the T50/30 card, the monthly ticket, quarterly ticket, pink card or T-4, you don’t have to pay extra on this route.

For navigating public transport, there is nice free app, called Citymapper, available for many major cities around Europe, including Barcelona. It has very thorough searches and tends to be more accurate than Google Maps.

If you arrive in Barcelona by long-distance train and are going to the airport, or going to take a long-distance train after dropping your group off, you can use the Rodalíes train for free – the pdf version of your train ticket will have a QR code for “combinado cercanias” – simply scan at the turnstyle of the Rodalíes trains for several hours prior to/after your train departure/arrival.
