Amalfi combined visit and lunch stop.
Pompei guided visit of the excavations.
NOTE: original passports required for visitors under 18 of age.
IMPORTANT!
Free admission is granted to all visitors aged under 18 in all state-run museums, art galleries and archaeological sites. ALL passengers under 18 will have to provide their original passport at the entrance of the excavation, otherwise they have to purchase a full price ticket at their own expense.
Be sure everyone knows this before departure from the hotel this morning.
Entrances to Pompei will be paid through Effetto voucher. The local guide will expedite the payment.
· Large touring buses are not allowed to drive along the Amalfi coast. A 25-seater bus (or 2 if you have a large group) will be booked for that day only.
· You may need cash for entrances to the Duomo in Amalfi. Check on your GL’s itinerary.
· It is possible to swim at the beach in Amalfi (time permitting).
· You might want to organise an optional visit to the Grotta Smeralda, a minor version of the Blue Grotto on Capri, at Conca dei Marini, just before Amalfi. Allow an hour for the visit.
08.30 Departure from Sorrento (10.00 Departure from Positano) Take the Costiera Amalfitana to Positano (photo stop before town) and Amalfi. You could make a rest stop shortly before Amalfi at one of the bars at Conca dei Marini.
10.30 Arrive at Amalfi. Take the group to visit the Duomo. The entrance is to the left of the main façade, through the cloisters. Give free time for lunch, there are plenty of places.
12.30 Departure from Amalfi. Take the direction Vietri/Salerno, then the A3 towards Naples and exit at Pompei Scavi.
14.30 Arrive at Pompei. Meet your guide in the Piazzale di Porta Marina Inferiore, right by the entrance of the excavations. Make sure you have the right guide by showing your service voucher. Hand over to the local guide the Effetto voucher to pay the entrances. Toilets are inside the entrance to the excavations. In an emergency there are toilets inside the Hotel Vittoria to the right, but be discreet. Guided tour of the site appx 2 hours. The exit is now the same as the entrance. Groups usually like a little free time to do souvenir shopping in the piazza after exiting.
17.30 Departure from Pompei. Take the A3 towards Salerno and exit at Castellammare di Stabia. Continue along the coast to Sorrento. If you are staying in Positano, you cut across the peninsula at Meta di Sorrento before reaching Sorrento itself.
