Globe Theatre visit

- There is a Starbucks directly opposite the theatre entrance and an ATM to the left as you leave the theatre on New Globe Walk.

9:00 Depart hotel for Globe Theatre. Majority of bookings are for 10:00 when the Education Department opens. You will invariably be there early so might like to use the time to take photos of the Globe exterior or use the shop. The toilets inside will be open from 9:30 am.
Globe Theatre
The visit is in 2 parts: A workshop/lecture and a tour of the theatre, both led by actors/educators from the Globe’s Education Dept. Allow 1 ½ to 2 hours for this visit, depending on schedule and plans for the rest of the day.
Before disembarking from the coach, arrange a time/place for departure. A good meeting place is the theatre foyer, or on the steps by the sculptured iron gates if the weather is good. This is also a great place for a group photo.
Coaches usually set down on the northbound side of Southwark Bridge (they can’t get any closer to the theatre). There are steps to take you down to embankment level. Follow the river (lhs) toward New Globe Walk.
Arrive at Globe Theatre and ask group to assemble in foyer area whilst you alert staff of your arrival. Go to the Education Desk now located next to Box Office. If you arrive early then it is a good opportunity to allow group to use restrooms and shop, both of which are up the stairs to the left. The group will be led into the “lecture theatre” by your guide. The workshop may take place in the building opposite, the doors are fobbed so you have to make sure everyone gets through each door before it closes.
The workshop usually lasts 1 hour and is followed by the theatre tour (approx. 30 mins). This may be swapped around. Give the group some time afterwards to visit the excellent shop (an English teacher’s dream), toilets – upper level, cafe – ground floor.
It is advisable to establish the plans for your group for activities after the Globe visit. There are occasions when the coach may not be required for the return journey.
