HOW TO GET TO THE AIRPORT.

TRAIN: Manchester Airport can be reached by very regular direct train services from the centre of Manchester. Contact: www.tpexpress.co.uk www.northernrail.org

BUS: Bus No43 is a service from Piccadilly Gardens, in the centre of the city, to Manchester Airport. Monday to Friday, journey time varies from 50 to 70 minutes. 24 Hour with regular from 0531. Contact: 0161 244 1000/ www.traveline-northwest.co.uk

ROAD: Manchester Airport can be reached via the M56, exiting at Junction 5. Airport is directly ahead using the M56 spur.

TRAM: Since 2015 there has been a tram line to the airport. However this is really only of benefit if you are staying in the Salford Quays area. Journey time from airport to city centre is 1 hour and requires a change at Cornbrook where the airport line originates/terminates.

DEPARTING FROM AIRPORT: When a group arrives at Manchester Airport it is more than likely that you will depart for another destination, ie, Lake District. It is a good idea to offer the group the opportunity to exchange currency, use ATM’s and to purchase light snacks/beverages. This should ensure a smoother arrival day.

To reach Manchester City Centre from the Airport, join the M56 Eastbound. This will merge into the A5103 (Princess Parkway), with the M56 branching away. At the A57(M) Junction, crossover and continue on the A5103 until, on your left, you see the Manchester Convention Centre (Previously Central Station) whilst ahead will be the red brick Midland Hotel. Road traffic is then directed to the left onto Windmill Street and then right onto Mount Street. This will bring you to the junction with Peter Street (A34). This is the civic heart of Manchester, with a side on view of the Neo-Gothic Town Hall on Albert Square ahead. To reach the Cathedral Quarter of the city, turn left from Mount Street onto Peter Street, continue along, and turn right onto Deansgate (A56). This will bring you directly to the Cathedral.
