Lake Titicaca and Uros Indians Visit
Perched over 3,800 meters above sea level between Peru and Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is visually striking and culturally fascinating. Sacred to the Incas as the birth spot of the first Inca king, in modern times, its Uro's Islands are home to a native community of the same name with a unique approach to construction—the islands themselves and all accompany structures are man-made from packed totora reeds. As you set off by boat across the lake's waters, learn the stories and legends that have made Titicaca an important part of the Peruvian folklore in both historic and modern times. Then join the Uros on their floating islands for a cultural exchange.
