Sámara Beach Spanish Language Study

June 20 - 27, 2027

Itinerary

The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.

Day 1, Sunday June 20: Samara Beach

Depart from the USA on Sunday. Arrive in Liberia where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your host families in Sámara Beach. The afternoon is free to unpack and explore.

Classes will be held in small groups of six students for four hours daily at your mid-sized Spanish language school established to offer all the advantages of an intensive Spanish language program at a beautiful Pacific Costa Rican beach campus.

Students will have shared rooms. Breakfast and dinner will be taken with the host families and lunch will be arranged at a local restaurant by the school.

Your family stay at the beach is definitely a rural experience. Houses are simple, rustic, and they do not have hot water (this is not considered a necessity in the tropical climate). Many of the houses are within walking distance, and students who live a little farther out often rent bicycles to reach school. Some families rent their own bicycles and other rentals are available in town. There is no ACIS Tour Manager included for this program. (D)

Day 2, Monday June 21: Samara Beach

This morning, visit the language school for orientation and assessment of your level of Spanish. In the afternoon, you will attend your first group Spanish language class. Unwind this evening with a chance to explore your surroundings and connect with the locals. Overnight with host families. (B,L,D)

Day 3, Tuesday June 22: Samara Beach

Attend morning group class at the language school. Then an afternoon surf lesson gives you the opportunity to learn to ride the waves like the locals. Take to the sand again this evening for a beach bonfire under the stars. Overnight with host families. (B,L,D)

Day 4, Wednesday June 23: Samara Beach

Explore the local waters in the morning with a kayaking excursion. After lunch attend group class at the language school. Then form teams to participate in a favorite Tico pastime—fútbol, or soccer as it's called in the U.S. Overnight with host families. (B,L,D)

Day 5, Thursday June 24: Samara Beach

Attend morning group class at the language school. In the afternoon, you'll have time to enjoy the beach or join other students to play sports at the school. Then learn the one of the most popular dances in Costa Rica during a salsa lesson. This evening a Costa Rican cooking class gives you the opportunity to learn how to make typical traditional dishes, a nice skill to take home and share with friends and family. Unwind with a Spanish movie before your overnight with host families. (B,L,D)

Day 6, Friday June 25: Samara Beach

Attend your final morning group class at the language school. This afternoon head to secluded Playa Izquierda for a nature walk. Learn about Costa Rica's rich diversity of plant and animal life and the importance of conservation. In the evening, put your new footwork skills into action as you enjoy salsa dancing at a local restaurant. Overnight with host families. (B,L,D)

Day 7, Saturday June 26: Samara Beach

This morning's excursion takes you to the rainforest, where you can ride the zip-lines and experience a unique ecosystem up-close on a canopy tour. Return to town and enjoy a final afternoon to further practice your surfing, swim or join activities at the school and converse in Spanish with local shop owners as you pick up souvenirs for friends and family. Overnight with host families. (B,L,D)

Day 8, Sunday June 27: Departure

Transfer to the airport in Liberia for return flight to the USA. (B)
