Ravenna visit of the Church of San Vitale and the tomb of Galla Placidia
Ravenna – visit.
Drive into town following signs to San Vitale. The route takes you round the outskirts of the town to the Piazza Baracca. Set down here and make a rendezvous for departure. (The driver must park at the Piazza della Resistenza near the Ospedale Civile).
Walk the group through the city gate into the via Cavour. Take the first left which leads you to San Vitale and the Tomb of Galla Placidia (the entrance is marked ‘museo’). You pay for a combined ticket giving entrance to these two. There are toilets in the cloisters before entering the church.
After the visit take them to the Piazza Costa/Piazza del Popolo area (see map) where there are lots of places for lunch.
