ASK THE GROUP TO ENSURE YELLOW ACIS BAGGAGE TAGS ARE CLEARLY VISIBLE AND TO ONLY PUT ONE PIECE EACH ONTO THE BAGGAGE VANS SO YOU CAN KEEP A COUNT.
Alternatively you may wish to be responsible for luggage yourself. Again find a member of staff and confirm which end the luggage van will be. Confirm your destination because there are sometimes different arrangements if you are leaving the train at York. Keep a small number of passengers to help load luggage. Give out individual tickets, Group leader takes everyone else to the designated waiting area for their carriage. Once the luggage is loaded walk through the train to your carriage.
Departure from London
The coach will drop you by the side of King’s Cross Station, in the coach bays on York Way. Nearest to Platforms 1&2. Check that nothing has been left on the coach, tip driver.
Entrance to all platforms is now ticketed and you will need to make your way around to the new extension to gain access. You should find a steward at that point to call your porters, if not go to the information desk in the centre of the station. Try to keep an eye on luggage movement whilst making a meeting place/time for group inside, well before train departure time.
Check with station staff to ensure you have the right platform and exactly where your carriage will be located. There are letters on the platform, which correspond to the carriages. Ask your teachers to take the group to the appropriate area of the platform and to board the train. There is no need to allocate seats, but if you have the numbers prior to travel, it makes sense to re-allocate to avoid argument on the train. The group can sit wherever they see an ACIS reservation slip.
Meanwhile you should supervise the loading of the group’s luggage onto the baggage van.
Departure from Edinburgh
Coaches are now no longer allowed onto the concourse of the railway station. Drop off/ pick-up is now in Market Street. Liase with driver, as you may have to drop on far side of Princes Street, If your hotel is very close to the station, for example the Carlton, it might be best to just to make your own way to the station.
Check that nothing has been left on the coach, tip driver.

Arrival at London Kings Cross
Ask the teachers to lead the group to the end of the platform and turn left. Exit now has ticket barriers, so all passengers must retain their individual tickets. Current coach pick-up is in York Way. However, the coach is usually some distance down York Way, so best to gather the group on the station concourse and escort them.
Meanwhile you should supervise the unloading and transfer of the luggage to the coach by the porters. Be absolutely sure nothing has been left on the train. If possible, count the bags.
Arrival at Waverley Station Edinburgh
Gather the whole group on Station concourse, retrieve bags from luggage van, account for all bags before moving on. Follow signs for lifts and Market Street exit where your coach should be located. Imperative to liase with the driver pre arrival.
