Transport

Siena is a very small town and off limits for buses in the centre, so everything is done on foot. Buses need a permit to enter town, which they collect at a checkpoint on the outskirts. The bus can drop you off and pick you up at the Fortezza except on schooldays between 12.15 and 13.45 and from this point you walk to the Piazza del Campo and the Duomo, passing the church of San Domenico where you will find (paying) toilets. Another drop off point is at Porta S. Marco – a steep but short walk to the Duomo.
