Montalcino – visit
The centre of Montalcino is closed to buses. Walk the group through the village from the drop off point (end of the via Roma) in front of the Comune di Montalcino offices. At the far end of the village you reach the Fortezza di Montalcino, from where you have a great view over the vineyards. Sometimes the wine tasting is at the restaurant inside the fortress.
A detour of 8km South of Montalcino to visit the Benedictine Abbey of S. Antimo is very well worth it. Add an extra hour for this (no toilets at the Abbey).
