HOW TO GET TO THE AIRPORT – ARRIVALS

• Taxis are not to be taken without specific instructions from the London Office or Spain Supervisor.

• You can search the flight number directly on your phone for up to date information.

It is very easy to move around Malaga and the Costa del Sol on Renfe Cercanías. The suburban train station in the Terminal T3 building links Malaga Airport with the city centre in one direction and the resorts of Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol in the other. The train station is situated underground at the terminal.

Trains run from the center of Malaga (Maria Zambrano) to the airport every twenty minutes from 5.30 to 23.30. The journey takes less than 15 minutes and costs €1.80.

If you are arriving to or leaving Malaga on a long-distance train, you can use the Cercanias train for free to get to/from the train station – the pdf version of your train ticket will have a QR code which can be scanned at the turnstiles to use the Cercanias trains for several hours prior to/after your train departure/arrival.

Trains from Fuengirola & Torremolinos, run every half an hour to the airport. Journey time from Fuengirola is 35 minutes, Benalmadena is 18 mins and Torremolinos 10 mins. The fares for this journey are between €1.80 to €3,60. For more information for travel on your day, contact Renfe on 902 2402 02 or check http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/cercanias/malaga/.

The arrivals area can only be accessed through Terminal T3. The terminals at Malaga Costa del Sol Airport are just a few minutes’ walk from each other and can be easily reached by travelators, lifts and escalators.

HOW TO GET TO THE AIRPORT – DEPARTURE

Check your Viajes Araque itinerary for details of transfer. You should aim to arrive at the airport 3 hours before the flight is due to leave, unless the group has a very early departure – also, note that for some flights the check-in desks will only open 2h prior to departure – even so, it’s good to be there early to make sure you are the first passengers to check in, as timing can get quite tight. Groups departing from Malaga on a flight routing that includes a connection and change of carrier in Madrid may not be able to check bags through to the US.

Groups in this situation will have to collect bags on arrival in Madrid and possibly transfer to another terminal and check-in for their transatlantic flight. Please clarify this with the airline when confirming your flights. Group Leaders should already be aware of this, but it never hurts to mention it again.

It is about a 20-minute drive from Torremolinos and about a 30-minute drive from Fuengirola to the airport.

Departures/check in are divided between T2 and T3 at Malaga Costa del Sol Airport. The terminals at Malaga Costa del Sol Airport are just a few minutes’ walk from each other and can be easily reached by travelators, lifts and escalators.

NB

• If you are starting the trip in Ronda or Granada you will spend the night before in Torremolinos, Benalmadena or Fuengirola. If you are staying at the Hotel Guadalmar outside Malaga you will need to take a taxi from the airport.
