The tube runs daily from 05.00 until midnight. Times do vary and certain lines start later at the weekends. Night Tube – Friday & Saturday nights reduced service runs through the night on Piccadilly, Central Jubilee Northern and Victoria. Check with individual stations for specific timings. Also check for planned engineering works at the weekends.

Oyster Cards: If a group is in London for an extended period of time then an Oyster Card is the better option. Importantly the card does not need to be registered to an address or a person. Oyster requires a £5 deposit which is refundable upon the return of the card, plus any credit left on the card. Refunds only after a period of 48 hours from original purchase. For most groups potential refunds would have to be the night before departure home as they will have a very early airport departure. An issue that has arisen in the past is that there is no guarantee that the ticket machines will have enough change to refund an entire group’s cards. If a group is going to be using the tube substantially then the Oyster card can be a saving but it is worth noting how many days during a tour that they will be outside London, for example a Showtime tour can have up to three full days out of London. An Oyster Card can offer groups flexibility. If you feel a group will benefit from the Oyster Card system, then refer to www.tfl.gov.uk.
Oyster Prices for Single Journeys: Zones 1-3 £2.90, Zones 1-4 £3.20, Zones 1-5 £3.50, Zones 1-6 £3.60. The Daily Cap Price using an Oyster Card within zones 1-2 £8.90 An Oyster Example: If visiting Hampton Court the daily cap would be a Zones 1-6 is a £16.30 for travel within Zones 1-6.
Contactless Payments: Groups can also choose to travel using the Credit Cards which will also offer a daily cap. Handy for groups in London for a short visit.
