· Taxis are not to be taken without specific instructions from the area office
· Florence bus regulations require a permit. Unless the bus company is based in Florence, check that your driver has obtained it.
· FLR airport is small and easy to navigate. Arrivals downstairs, departures upstairs. Liaise with coach driver as to pickup location, which is usually to the right upon exiting the arrivals terminal.

How to get to the airport – arrival
Buses (‘VolaInBus’) depart from the bus station (to the left of the train station) every 30mins from 5.00 to 00.10. Journey time appx 20-30mins, depending on traffic.
How to get to the airport – departure
The airport is located 4km to the northwest of Florence, just before the start of the “Firenze Nord/Firenze Mare” Autostrada (A1 and A11). Driving time 30-45mins, depending on the location of your hotel and traffic.

Most airlines require individual check-in, increasingly involving the use of automatic terminals. This procedure takes a lot of time, it is therefore important that you are at the airport 3 hours before departure of Intercontinental flights and 2 hours before European/Domestic departures.
