  • Guide is with the group the entire day, pays entrances, and conducts the visits (make sure under-18’s have their passports on them, and inform guide of how many of them there are). Have a list of Pax names and birthdates as it might be needed.
  • Your local guide will deal with scheduling and order of visit.
  • NB – the same ticket is used for entry to the site and the museum. Make sure you tell the group to keep their tickets as losing it means buying a second ticket to enter the site/museum.
  • Lunch is sometimes included and right outside Delphi (5 mins drive from site). If not included, you’ll go to a restaurant (usually “Omphalos”) for lunch on their own.
  • Athens – Delphi – 178km (approx. 3 hour drive with a rest stop after about 2 hours)
  • Check tipping guidelines for the guide and driver. Tip in advance. You always tip the guide and usually the driver. If you need clarification, call the TM Office.
  • The stadium at the top of the archaeological site can be reached by a roughly twenty minute walk (uphill!) from the Temple of Apollo for the fitter members of the group.
  • Tell the group that they should be prepared with motion sickness medication (45 minutes of the drive to the site is windy), sturdy shoes and sun protection. There are many bees in the area; if there are pax with allergies they should be prepared (ie, epipens, Benadryl, etc).
  • Time allowing, you can stop in Arachova on the return home (about 20 minutes from the luncheon venue). This is a beautiful ski resort town perched on the side of Mount Parnassos. Shopping available – unlike Delphi.

Departure from the hotel is scheduled for between 7.30am and 08.00am (make sure that the hotel knows your departure time in advance to allow breakfast arrangements), and you should be back at the hotel around 18:00.

The driver will most likely not collect the group at the same location where he dropped the group—important to advise pax so they do not return to the wrong place.

The site

  • On the side of a mountain, stunning views.
  • Same way down as up.
  • Restrooms available inside the site up the first ramp.
  • There will first be a guided visit (appx 45’ to 1 hour) followed by free time for the group to use as they like.
  • Meeting spot at the base of the stairs, an alcove area in the shade with seating all around adjacent to the ticket office.

The Museum

  • Very manageable in size—one floor, visit takes roughly 45’.
  • One way direction of visit, guide accompanies throughout. No free time in museum.
  • Elevator available for those with mobility restrictions.

Café/Toilets/Gift Shop

  • Located between site and museum.
  • Make a toilet/rest stop between the museum and site.
