You will most likely be staying in Fuengirola, Torremolinos or its western extension Benalmádena.

Railway Station Open: 6.15am-midnight

Trains go every half hour to airport and between Malaga and Fuengirola, Torremolinos & Benalmadena.

Bus Station Calle Hoyo Buses go to the mountain village of Mijas, along coast to Marbella and as far as Algeciras. Buses for Malaga leave from Plaza Costa del Sol.

Malaga

Picasso Museum – Located in the heart of old town Malaga, which is easily reached by train. Open Tuesdays to Sundays 10am to 8pm (Jul-Aug), 10am to 7pm (March-Jun, Sept-Oct) and 10am to 6pm (Nov-Feb). Free for under 17s (w/ ID), €11 for students €13 for everyone else. http://www.museopicassomalaga.org/

Torremolinos

Aqua Land

Fun water park. Open: 10am-10pm in summer. There are buses and trains from Torremolinos and buses from Benalmádena www.aqualand.es

Selwo Aventura

Safari park located between San Pedro de Alcántara and Estepona. www.selwo.es

Tivoli World

A fun park in Benalmádena. Take a train to Arroyo de la Miel-Benalmádena

Bullfight

There is a ring in the Calvario area of town and during the season fights are held most Sundays. See posters for details. Also in Mijas.

Cable Car

In Benalmádena this ride takes you to the top of Monte Calamorro. Once there, you can see wild bird exhibits, watch wild horses being tamed or take a donkey ride – all for a small fee of course!

Minigolf

In Benalmadena – on the outskirts of Fuengirola.

Parque Aquatico

Open during the Summer months, this waterpark in Mijas is a short bus ride away. www.aquamijas.com

Shopping

Main shopping area is Calle San Miguel and the streets that cross it.

Fuengirola

The “main strip” of town is full of restaurants and bars right on the waterfront. The ‘old town’ which has a main traditional pretty main square is a couple of streets in.

Zoo

There is a very imaginative zoo here with nighttime settings to observe nocturnal animals. It houses a small tropical forest where all the animals roam free. Great for a rainy day!

Beach

Fuengirola has five miles of beach. There are various places for the hire of pedalos with water slide. Banana boat rides and Jet Skis etc. can de organized at the maritime centre by the port or on Playa del Castillo a section of beach further on past Hotel Pyramides. Jet Skis should not be rented without consulting pax insurance policies and checking that teachers have full parental permission.

Torremolinos: Can be reached by following Calle San Miguel downwards as far as you can go! There are lots of beach bars, restaurants and shops in beach area.

Markets

There is a regular market in Fuengirola every Tuesday morning in the trade fair area of los Boliches On Saturdays there is a flea market in the same area. The port also houses a artisan market on Sundays.

Benalmádena

In Benalmádena, life centres around the main square which is close to your hotel. Here there are small shops and cafes. Also you can catch a bus from here to Mijas.

There is also a large bowling complex “megabowl” in la Cañada, Marbella. It also has an American style diner and sports bar.

During the non-summer months do not expect a vibrant nightlife in the Costa del Sol, especially during the week. You can organize a games night in the hotel.
