Lucerne Walking tour with TM (see ACIS TM notes)

§ In spring, check whether the road between Chamonix and Martigny, via the Col des Montets and the Col de la Forclaz, is open. The alternative route is via Geneva – add one hour’s driving time for this option.

§ A good mid-way rest stop is the Autogrille at Gruyères, south of Fribourg.

Lucerne visit:

§ Set down and pick up at Schwanenplatz – outside Bucherer. Give your driver and group an exact time for departure.

§ By the time you arrive in Lucerne, your group will probably be ready for lunch. Take them into the Old Town for lunch – there are lots of restaurants along the River Reuss. Arrange a suitable meeting point and after lunch, take them on the Walking Tour (see TM notes) and give some

free time before meeting back at the bus. Remember to include the Lion Monument, especially important if you have come from France. You can, however, visit this by bus (the bus park is a five-minute walk away) at anytime during your stay in Lucerne.

§ As a cheap option the walkway underneath the train station is full of supermarkets, small pizza places, burger stalls etc. Lucerne restaurants can be pricey and this can be a good option if students are running out of money.
