Transportation for TM from airport to/from centre
Taxis are not to be taken to the airport without specific instructions from the area office (flat fare is €40 from airport to city centre – €58 between midnight and 5 am)
Metro (Blue Line)
• Approx 45 minutes to Syntagma Square (where it crosses the Red Line)
• One way: €10 (Round Trip: €18-return w/in 48 hours: useful when you are meeting a group at the airport the day after arriving)
• Follow signs from Arrivals, you go up and over a bridge/tunnel to get to the station. Be careful not to confuse the metro with the commuter rail, which go to 2 different places.
• Frequency varies by time of day (Every 30 minutes, 7 days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.)
Bus (number X95)
• Approx 1 hour to Syntagma Square (metro Red and Blue lines cross here)
• One way: €8 (buy at kiosk just outside of Arrivals & validate ON BOARD; buy on board and validate when travelling to airport)
• Runs 24 hours/day; frequency varies by time of day (usually 3-4 per hour)
Upon Your Arrival in Athens
• Contact Amalia or Evi at Andy’s Tours
• If your tour begins in Athens, you might be able to catch a ride with the driver to the airport (speak with Amalia or Evi about this)
Transferring your Group between the Airport and the Centre
• Allow 1 hour for the transfer (early morning can be as short as 30 minutes).
• If there are multiple arrivals, speak with Evi as she most likely will have arranged a transfer assistant to help with some of them.
• Departures: Make sure to confirm the flight data (individual pax names will be confirmed by ACIS USA) and confirm that all passports are accounted for before departing the hotel. Also, ensure that you allow enough time to accommodate check-in. Be aware that there are different times allocated for direct trans-Atlantic, intra and extra-Schengen travel. It is always preferable to be too early rather than too late!
• Departures: Very rarely, you will be required to drive to the airport from another town or city. Please check driving times with your driver. These will greatly vary depending on time of day. As a guide: Nafplio-Athens airport: 2.5hours. Delphi-Athens Airport: 3.5 hours
