Coconut Craft Workshop

This hands-on workshop repurposing coconuts into accessories or decorations lets you craft your own unique souvenir as you support a good cause and enjoy an amazing opportunity for cultural exchange and learning. The local artisans cooperative in La Boquilla village with whom you’ll partner is called DAMARTES (Damas y Madres del Arte). Many years ago these women took part in a craft class sponsored by the foundation ProBoquilla—today they continue to produce jewelry, containers, vases, belts and other accessories as the frst women of La Boquilla that produce their own income. All of them are mothers, many already grandmothers, and they have many life stories to share as you learn from them the patience and techniques for how to produce items such as bracelets, keychains, earrings or necklaces out of coconuts.
