Melk inside guided tour
- You need cash or ACIS card for entrances in Melk. You no longer tip the guide.
- Call the Abbey in Melk as soon as you start your trip to book an English tour. This is your responsibility!! Do not just turn up without a reservation. You will get a fixed time. See Yellow Pages for number.
Melk – guided inside visit
On arrival in Melk drive straight to the Abbey coach park and do your visit first. Lead the group down to the abbey, through a garden terrace into the first courtyard where there are free toilets. The ticket office is clearly signed. Buy your tickets and you will be informed where your guide will meet you (usually by the fountain in the second courtyard). Inform the group that the tour will end in the church and that they must make their own way all the way back to the coach park. The tour includes an exhibition, the Emperors’ gallery, marble hall, terrace, library and ends in the Abbey church.
After the tour, if the group does not want to eat by the Abbey, you can walk the very steep path down into the village. There are lots of places for lunch.
