City sightseeing with local guide
Morning Sightseeing includes:
· The Soviet military cemetery in the Treptower Park
· Holocaust Memorial
· A drive past the major sights: Unter den Linden, Brandenburg Gate, Potsdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, East Side Gallery, etc.
· A stop at the Reichstag (since late 2010 everyone must preregister in advance for security reasons. Groups must be booked well in advance as spaces frequently fill up weeks in advance, and you require everyone’s birth dates to do so) https://visite.bundestag.de/
· Former locations of SS and Gestapo headquarters (“Topography of Terror”) and Hitler’s Bunker
· Bendlerblock site of the German Resistance Museum and Defence Ministry offices
Rendezvous with local guide at hotel (check voucher for time). It is best to discuss the sightseeing itinerary in detail when you confirm over the phone. You will probably need to head for Treptower Park first as it is quite a drive out to the East. Later, you may well walk from the Reichstag past the Brandenburg Gate to the Holocaust Memorial – or the reverse.
Depending upon timing, you may take lunch by the Holocaust Memorial /Brandenburg Gate (there are several cafes in the area) or in West Berlin around the Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche (where there are numerous cafes and fast food options). Point out these lunch spots and arrange a rendezvous for departure for the afternoon’s visits.
