Currency exchange: Outside banking hours, at the train station. Many ATMs.
Museums: Geneva is not one of the best cities for museums but there are several interesting ones. These include:-
Museum of Art and History (Painting, sculpture and archaeology)
at 2 rue Charles Galland,
International Red Cross & Red Crescent Museum (multimedia exhibitions)
at the UN’s Palais des Nations,
Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art – MAMCO – Rue des Vieux Grenadiers 10.
NB: Most museums close on Mondays. A visit to the Red Cross Museum may be included in your itinerary.
Boat ride: There is a regular stopping service, which operates like a water bus, you can catch it from near the Pont du Mont Blanc or near the Brunswick Monument. If you want to organise a trip for your group, call Swiss Boat.
Swimming: At the Genève-Plage (take the water bus)
Parks: There are several lovely lakeside parks and gardens, the Botanical Gardens (route de Lausanne – after the GATT building) have a rock garden, a hot house and a deer pen.
Shopping: Geneva is a very good place for shopping, but remember that the shops generally close quite early on Saturday afternoons and all day Sundays. The best area is the pedestrian area (rue du Marché, etc.) behind Bucherer below the Old Town. Remember that Geneva is not cheap!
