Free afternoon and evening
· On an IMJ an inside visit to Charlottenburg Palace is included
Check the voucher for the reservation time, you pay entrances
and a supplement for the guided tour in English.
Sightseeing includes:
· The Soviet military cemetery in the Treptower Park (if plenty of time)
· East Side Gallery (section of the Wall)
· A drive past the major sights: Unter den Linden, Brandenburg Gate, New Synagogue, Ku’damm, Potsdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, etc.
· A stop at the Reichstag (since late 2010 groups can no longer enter unless booked well in advance due to security restrictions.)
· The Berlin Wall Memorial at Bernauerstr. also makes an excellent stop where you can get off the bus – discuss with your local guide
Rendezvous with local guide at hotel (check voucher for time) and discuss the sightseeing itinerary in detail – you can’t fit ‘everything’ in!
If your itinerary states that the Pergamon Museum is included, it’s best to make it your last stop. Your guide leaves you here. Take the group in. Pay entrances and make sure everyone gets earphones for the self-guided tour in English. Be aware that the Pergamon Altar itself is closed, as is a substantial part of the museum, until 2027. The southern section will not reopen until 2037.
Point out lunch spots, underline free time suggestions (see Berlin Facts and Free Time), arrange a rendezvous and/or be sure everyone is able to get back to the hotel and knows how to use the public transport system if you are not using a touring bus.
