HOW TO GET TO THE AIRPORT – ARRIVAL
NB Taxis are not to be taken without specific instructions from the area office.
If arriving on a plane you can get a free Unireso ticket (valid for 80 mins on train or bus) in the baggage hall. In addition, your Geneva hotel should give you a free Geneva Transport card for the duration of your stay.
Public Transport within the Geneva area is operated through Unireso with a set price of 3.00CHF for an individual single ticket (or 2.00CHF for a maximum 3-stop journey). A day pass costs 10.00CHF.
Trains leave from Geneva railway station every 20 mins from 07.15, for earlier departures, check timetable.

Cost: 3.00 CHF
Trains run from 04.43 to 00.07.
Buses Number 5 & 10 run from the Gare Cornavin to the airport every 10 minutes during the day. (Cost 3.50 CHF.)
HOW TO GET TO THE AIRPORT – DEPARTURE
The airport is on the western outskirts of the city. Allow about 25 minutes from the centre of Geneva.
From Lausanne: Take the A1 to Geneva. Allow at least one hour.
From Chamonix: Take the N205/A40 to Geneva and follow signs to the airport. Allow 1hr 45mins.

TAX REFUNDS
Passengers can get their forms processed for goods purchased in both Switzerland and the EU. However, Geneva may be more complicated than Zurich as there are EU (French) customs in the airport building.
Advice is that EU tax-free slips may be processed at French customs before checking in, and refunds obtained later from the Global Exchange tax refund office in the reserved international area. For credit card refunds, the envelope can be posted in the mailbox near the Visitors’ Centre.
For Swiss tax-free slips, passengers can check-in first then go to the Detaxe/Tax Refund office on the top floor of the reserved international area where they can get them processed and receive the refund at the nearby Global Exchange office. There is also a mailbox here if refunds will be on credit cards.
