HOW TO GET TO THE AIRPORT – ARRIVAL

NB Taxis are not to be taken without specific instructions from the Area Office.

IMPORTANT

Frankfurt has two Terminals:

Terminal 1 ABCZ

Terminal 2 DE

There is a “sky train” between the two, but it is only suitable for you, and not for a large group with luggage, because of the number of escalators etc.

Check in advance which terminal(s) your flight(s) are arriving at or departing from. As a guideline, the following airlines use Terminal 2: Air France, BA, Delta, KLM and NW. Lufthansa and United use Terminal 1.

TERMINAL 1 Buses may not stop outside the airport terminal to pick up / drop off and have to use Bus Park P36. This is approx. 400 m away from the terminal. From there, it is a good 10 mins walk to the terminal.

T2 has a bus pick up and set down points directly outside but, as parking is expensive, your bus will probably park elsewhere off site and arrive at the actual terminal only after the flight’s arrival. It is worth calling the driver in advance.

FRANKFURT AIRPORT

There are two railway stations at Frankfurt airport: “Regionalbahnhof” and “Fernbahnhof”. Be sure to use the regional one if you are travelling to or from the City. Tickets from RMV (the local provider) are not valid on the long-distance trains such as the ICE and you risk being fined for taking one.

Trains run every 15 mins from the Hauptbahnhof to Terminal 1, either from the S Bahn station or platforms 20-24, round the clock.

Trip time: 11 mins. Cost: €6.60

This same ticket is valid on the trams and U Bahn in central Frankfurt.

NB It is likely your hotel will be outside Frankfurt near the airport and should have a free minibus shuttle service to and from the airport. Check the “hotel bus” signs outside both terminal 1 and 2, but be aware that some of the

transfer buses only collect from one of the terminals. You may need to call the hotel using the courtesy phone. If you cannot find the hotel bus stop or are in doubt, call the hotel direct. You should reserve a place in the morning for your transfer back as the buses fill up: ask at reception.
