Chartres inside visit of Cathedral (no entrance fee)
- If operating this day from Paris, the ‘L’ Arche Esso’ 24-hour service station can be an option for a big group, even though there are smaller, free toilets at the parking lot Rue Charles Brune.

Chartres – visit
The VEIL is on display in the lit ambulatory at the back of the church to the left of the altar, in an upright glass and gold display case. (not the veil on the small statue of the Virgin Mary surrounded by candles just behind on the left !).
It is no longer possible to give commentary inside the Cathedral without your group wearing their vox headsets. Don’t forget them. Tours available on request – 02 37 21 75 02 – approx €12EUR pp. Malcolm Miller available for private visits – contact Cathedral Visits Service (no. above)
Designated parking for coaches is rue Charles Brune. Free public toilets there too. Walk the group up to the Cathedral (5 min walk). Give some explanation of the main portal, then lead them inside to see the cross-ribbed vaults, the stained glass windows and the Veil.
The North Tower of the Cathedral is usually open and can be climbed (small fee), however, minors must be accompanied by an adult. It is a very steep climb (just under 400 steps!) but the views are spectacular.
The Cathedral boutique is closed on Sunday and Monday mornings.
Opposite the Cathedral there are toilets (small fee), bureau de change (not always open) a couple of souvenir shops. Encourage them to explore the town. Facing the Cathedral, a labyrinth of interesting streets are to the right of the square and Cathedral.
