Begin to explore Munich. This Bavarian capital city boasts bustling plazas, fine museums and impressive art galleries. Along the way, be sure to sample some weisswurst or enjoy a slice of fresh-baked apple strudel. Mehr bitte!
Explore Bavaria's capital city with a guided sightseeing tour of highlights such as the Marienplatz and its famed Glockenspiel, the Viktualienmarkt food-and-flower market and the surfers on the Isar River. Then head for BMW World, a showcase for the BMW brand, one of the industry's most influential auto makers. Later you'll discover the city's hidden gems during a bike tour
of unique neighborhoods and other off-the-beaten-path sights. Pedal down historic old streets, peek into delightful courtyards, ride along the city's river and explore the popular 910-acre Englischer Garten, one of the world's largest urban public parks.
Drive to Mödlareuth, a small village once known as “Little Berlin” because it was split by a wall demarking East Germany from West Germany. An open-air museum here includes a portion of the original wall (the rest was bulldozed in 1990) and explains the politics behind this miniature Berlin Wall. Continue to the picturesque Harz Mountains, the tallest range in northern Germany.
Start to explore the Harz Mountains area, including a ride on the scenic narrow-gauge steam train to the summit of Brocken Mountain, a prominent feature in German folklore. Then visit Quedlinburg Castle, a centuries-old, German Romanesque-style complex that looms above the city of the same name.
Journey to Hamburg, often called "Gateway to the World" due to its major port on the river Elbe. From cruise ships to container ships to the historic warehouse district, a fun harbor cruise showcases the bustling port area. Then visit the impressive Rathaus (or town hall), with your tour manager.
Arrive in Berlin and enjoy a visit to the dome and roof terrace of the impressive Reichstag building. Completed in 1894, it once was home to the Parliament of the old German Empire.
Take a guided sightseeing tour to view chief attractions in Germany's capital city including a portion of the famous Berlin Wall, the somber Holocaust Memorial, Potsdamer Platz, a historic square in the center of the city, and Checkpoint Charlie, the famous crossing between East and West Berlin and an enduring symbol of the Cold War. Then engage with the modern German culture as you try something completely different: a street art workshop
, where you'll learn about this edgy modern art movement during a walking tour that will reveal many examples of street art, including stencil art, paste-ups, graffiti, murals and tagging. In addition local experts will show you how to make your own street-savvy artwork, which you'll take home as a one-of-a-kind personal souvenir.
Depart for the USA.
