Itinerary
This itinerary is the starting point for your tour, but it’s not set in stone. If there are days you would like to change, or specific places you’d like to go, we can work with you to create a personalized program that fits the needs of you and your students.
Day 1: Panama City
Depart from the USA. Arrive in Panama City, meet your ACIS Tour Manager and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: Panama City
Tour Panama City today, visiting the famed Panama Canal and the visitor center at Miraflores Locks which features viewing platforms and interactive information on how ships pass through the locks to travel the canal. You'll then explore the city ruins, and see the colonial city with the beautiful Altar de Oro Church, the Plaza de Francia, and the presidential palace, El Palacio de las Garzas. Later, in contrast, visit modern Punta Paitilla with its skyscrapers, restaurants, and nightclubs.
Day 3: Boquete
After a short flight to David, transfer to Boquete and get situated in your hotel. This afternoon, learn about coffee production on a tour of a local coffee plantation. Consider the life cycle for growing coffee, the process for harvesting and processing it and the impact on the local ecosystem.
Day 4: Boquete
Your adventure continues today with a full-day excursion to Baru Volcano National Park, in the Chiriqui Province. Consisting of approximately 35,000 acres, the park has tropical rainforest landscapes with some unique highlands species and the remains of the last blast of the Baru Volcano that happened millions of years ago.
Day 5: Isla Colon
Drive to Almirante in Bocas del Toro and board a boat for Isla Colón, the largest island in the archipelago.
Day 6: Isla Colon
Board another boat this morning for a full-day dolphin watching tour starting in Dolphin Bay, whose calm waters and mangroves make it an ideal habitat for the bottlenose dolphins who call it home. You'll also do some snorkeling and enjoy the crystal clear waters off Red Frog Beach on Isla Bastimentos, which gets its name from the red poison arrow frog.
Day 7: Panama City
A short flight brings you back to Panama City today in time for dinner and your final evening abroad.
Day 8: Departure
Depart for the USA.
