Itinerary

This itinerary is the starting point for your tour, but it’s not set in stone. If there are days you would like to change, or specific places you’d like to go, we can work with you to create a personalized program that fits the needs of you and your students.

Day 1: Overnight Flight

Depart from the USA.

Day 2: Casablanca

Arrive in Casablanca, the vibrant heart of Morocco, where you will be warmly greeted by your ACIS Tour Manager and transferred to your hotel. If the timing of your arrival flight permits, embark on a brief orientation sightseeing tour that shows you Casablanca’s modern skyline, grand boulevards, and iconic landmarks such as the Hassan II Mosque. The evening is yours to relax and acclimate.

Day 3: Fes

Journey in the morning to see Meknes, one of the four Imperial Cities (historic capitals) of Morocco alongside Fes, Marrakech and Rabat. A walking tour of Meknes shows you its vibrant medina, humming with artisan workshops and spice-filled souks, the intricate façade of the 19th century palace that houses the Dar Jamai Museum, and the towering city gates, including the iconic Bab el Mansour. Wander past the fortified imperial walls and explore the covered market, where stalls overflow with olives, pastries, and fragrant spices. Then drive to the nearby archaeological site at Volubilis, built over two thousand years ago when this area of the country was a Roman province. Dive into this Roman part of Moroccan history through the site’s intricate mosaics and grand arches. You’ll arrive in Fes in time for dinner.

Day 4: Fes

Founded in the 9th century and the oldest royal city in Morocco, Fes has preserved many of its medieval aspects and ways of life. The city will stimulate all the senses on a guided sightseeing tour inside Fes el Bali (old Fes), past food and spice markets, handicraft quarters, and colorful stores. Visit the stunning 14th century Al-Attarine Madrasa and the Funduq al-Najjarin, which houses the Museum of Wooden Arts & Crafts, marveling at their intricate tilework and architectural brilliance. Then explore one of Fes’ famous tanneries, where the vibrant colors of the leather come to life through a tradition that spans centuries.

Day 5: Rabat

Travel today to Rabat, Morocco’s regal capital city and official residence of the king. A sightseeing tour begins with the tranquil streets, iconic blue and white residences, old mosque, and Andalusian-style garden of the Kasbah des Oudaias, an ancient fortified citadel overlooking the river estuary and ocean. Then see the Mohammed V Mausoleum, a masterpiece of the Moroccan arts and crafts, next to which stands the medieval Hassan Tower built in the late 12th century.

Day 6: Marrakech

Depart Rabat for Marrakech, the Red City. Considered one of Morocco’s most cosmopolitan centers, it offers a spectacular location surrounded by farmlands and snowcapped mountains, including the highest peak in North Africa, which rises to nearly 14,000 feet. After arriving, enjoy an evening walk through the enchanting square of Jemaa El Fna, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. As the sun sets, the square comes alive with street performers, snake charmers, and the mouthwatering aromas of street food. It’s a vibrant sensory overload that you won’t soon forget.

Day 7: Marrakech

Discover the secrets of Marrakech on today’s guided city sightseeing tour. See the Koutoubia Mosque with its 282-foot minaret, and walk through the 12th century Kasbah, absorbing the atmosphere of its food market, bakeries and narrow alleyways. You’ll visit the opulent 19th century Bahia Palace and discover the intricate work done by local artisans to decorate this splendid home, courtyard and gardens built by a powerful Vizir for his Harem. Then marvel at the elegance of Dar El Bacha, the impressive former “Pasha’s Palace” that’s now home to the Museum of Confluences, celebrating the diverse cultural influences that have shaped Morocco’s identity.

Day 8: Marrakech

Today, your senses will come alive as you take part in a hands-on Moroccan cooking lesson, learning the steps to preparing authentic and traditional dishes bursting with flavor. After savoring your creations for lunch, journey outside of the city and watch the landscape change dramatically. Arrive in Agafay Desert where you'll meet with members of a traditional Amazigh (Berber) nomadic community and participate together in an afternoon of workshops and cultural immersion at their camp. As the sunset's blazing pinks and oranges fade into twilight, settle into an authentic lantern-lit dinner at the desert camp and feast on authentic Moroccan cuisine under the stars. Return late to your hotel in Marrakech.

Day 9: Departure

Depart for the USA.
