Excursions
In the Spring and during the low season the Neckar cruise will automatically be replaced by a Lake Lucerne cruise (check voucher)
· You need cash for the Neckar cruise. Check routing and departure time with the Area Office or boat company
· For the Lake Lucerne cruise, check the exact departure time and place on your voucher or with the Area Office
NECKAR CRUISE – FROM NECKARSTEINACH TO HEIDELBERG
Heidelberg – Neckarsteinach (by coach) 18km, 30 mins
Cruise back to Heidelberg (by boat) 1hr 20 min
16.00 Departure from Heidelberg. Take the Burgenstrasse (Road 37) towards Neckargemünd/Neckarsteinach.
16.30 Arrive in Neckarsteinach. Set down, walk down to the river bank. Tell your driver where and when to pick you up in Heidelberg (if necessary).
17.00 Buy tickets for the group and board the boat.
18.20 Arrive in Heidelberg. The pier is opposite the Stadthalle (City auditorium). Drive or walk to restaurant for dinner (see voucher).
LAKE LUCERNE CRUISE
The Lake Lucerne Navigation Company runs cruises from in front of the Railway station. Alternatively, you may have a cruise with Charles Bucher. Most of their boats start on opposite side of the lake from the station, near Schwanenplatz/Bucherer.
Check your voucher for time of departure and itinerary of the cruise. It may be a round trip, or you might be disembarking (e.g. at Vitznau) and returning by bus.
If necessary, ask the driver to pick up the group at Schwanenplatz 30 minutes before the boat leaves. Drive or walk to the pier. Tell the driver where you will be disembarking if you require a lift back. Exchange your voucher for tickets and board the boat. Be sure that the group knows when they need to be ready to disembark as loudspeaker announcements are not possible on the boat. Inform them as well that there may be first and second class decks (depending on the size of the boat) and the ticket class they have.
