HOW TO GET TO THE AIRPORT – ARRIVAL

NB Taxis are not to be taken without specific instructions from the area office.

Berlin has a single airport: Berlin Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt (BER). It has two terminals: 1 and 2. Terminal 1 is where ACIS flights will arrive; Terminal 2 is dedicated to low cost airlines (Ryanair, Whizzair; though EasyJet currently uses Terminal 1).

Terminal 1 is a U shaped building consisting of zones A-D. All check in areas are located on Level 1; departure areas for the Schengen area are also on Level 1, whereas non-Schengen departures leave from Level 0.

The airport also has a Terminal 3 planned. Terminal 5 (the old Schönefeld airport building) has now been closed.

HOW TO GET TO THE AIRPORT

The airport is located to the south of the city.

It is served by a wide range of public transport options including the S-Bahn, regional train, airport express (“FEX”), bus and night bus. Tickets for zones A, B, C are required and cost EUR 4.70. There is a single rail station called “Terminals 1 and 2” – it is in fact located in Terminal 1, with Terminal 2 a short walk away.

Trip time: around 40 minutes by the FEX and 50 minutes by S-Bahn.

Check out www.vbb.de for timetables, or more specifically: https://www.vbb.de/en/driving-information/ber-airport/how-to-get-to-ber/

The Touring Bus carpark is located outside opposite Terminal 1. Simply follow the signs for “Bushaltestelle B”. You will see it as you walk past the Steigenberger Airport Hotel.

The journey from Berlin Brandenburg to Alexanderplatz is 27km and will take a minimum of 45 minutes via the A113. West Berlin (e.g. Charlottenburg) is marginally further at 30km but will take slightly less time, via the A100 and A113. Allow a minimum of 40 minutes.
