Basilica St Denis
Excursion
To get there take line 13 to Basilique de Saint-Denis. Be careful as line 13 is notoriously crowded so groups will need to spread out and be very careful about pickpockets.
Note that Line 13 divides at La Fourche so be sure to get on the right train and let the group know about this so they don’t just hop on the first train without checking if it is the one they need. You need to get on the one going in direction St-Denis Université and NOT Asnières. You could take the RER to St Denis. It is a good 15 mins walk to the cathedral from the RER station.
When you get off the metro take Sortie 1 and follow the brown signs to the Cathedral. It is about a 2 minute-walk from the metro. Go through the main entrance of the cathedral and on your right you will see a door leading you back out of the cathedral and round to the tickets/entrance to see the tombs of the Kings and Queens.
Group rates available. You will not be able to visit them during Mass. In the week Mass is at 9am (Sunday at 8.30am & 10.00am) and 6.00pm (Oct-Mar) or 6.30pm (Apr-Sept). There are toilets just after the ticket office.
There is an open market, just as you come out of the metro, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sunday mornings (ends around 2.30/3pm).
Be very careful of pickpockets !!!!!
