On arrival in Johannesburg, meet your tour managers and transfer to your first hotel in time for a group dinner together with traditional music and dance (D)
Day 3, Friday June 18: Johannesburg
After breakfast depart for a tour of the Soweto Township, made famous as the cradle of the anti-Apartheid movement and now a vibrant cultural and tourist hub where you'll learn about the events that shaped modern South Africa, and take lunch with the locals! Today also sees your first performance alongside a local township choir. Later you'll also rehearse for your festival performance before dinner together (B,L,D)
Day 4, Saturday June 19: Johannesburg
This morning after breakfast you'll visit the Apartheid Musuem, is acknowledged as the pre-eminent museum in the world dealing with the apartheid story. Learn about the segregation of whites and non-whites which dominated the history of the nation for most of the second half of the 20th Century in South Africa, and the country's new beginnings as a united people. After lunch you'll come together with the world famous Drakensberg Boys Choir to perform as part of the Music in the City Festival, before dinner together (B,L,D)
Day 5, Sunday June 20: Johannesburg
This morning after breakfast you're invited to participate in a local church service as the guest choir, followed by a community lunch. This afternoon spend time around the hotel pool (the festival performance may be today instead of yesterday, subject to the schedule). Dinner tonight is in the hotel (B,L,D)
Day 6, Tuesday June 22: Cape Town
It's a very early start this morning for your second game drive in the Park, where you'll hopefully catch a glimpse of some of the Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) before transferring back to the airport in time for lunch and for your flight to Cape Town. You'll arrive in this beautiful coastal city in time for dinner at the renowned V&A Waterfront in the city (B,L,D)
Day 7, Thursday June 24: Cape Town
This morning after breakfast it's time to ascend one of the most iconic sites in South Africa, Table Mountain, where a cable car will take you to the top for spectacular views over the city and surrounding ocean. Day 8, Friday June 25: Cape Town
This morning after breakfast take a tour of the Cape Peninsula, including a boat cruise across Hout Bay to Seal Island, the African Penguin colony at Boulders Beach, and lunch in Simons Town.
