RPYO - Central Europe Family and Friends Tour

February 15 - 21, 2027

Itinerary

The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.

Day 1, Monday February 15: Overnight Flight

Depart Rochester by private charter motorcoach, under the arrangements of the RPYO, and travel to Toronto Pearson International Airport. Check in for your international flight and depart Toronto as your journey begins.

Day 2, Tuesday February 16: Salzburg

A light breakfast will be served on board your flight prior to arrival in Munich. Upon arrival, meet your Encore Tour Manager and travel to Salzburg, Austria, the birthplace of Mozart and one of Europe’s most picturesque cities. Enjoy lunch on your own before exploring the city. Experience Salzburg through a guided tour of the historic Old Town, including Mozartplatz, Salzburg Cathedral, Mirabell Gardens, and Getreidegasse, with a visit to Mozart’s Birthplace Museum. Take the funicular to Hohensalzburg Fortress for panoramic views of the city and Alps. This evening, enjoy dinner with the RPYO students. (B, D)

Day 3, Wednesday February 17: Prague

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel this morning, and each morning throughout your tour, before attending the RPYO Music Clinic. Following the clinic, travel north toward the Czech Republic. En route, visit the enchanting medieval town of Ceský Krumlov, beautifully situated along a bend in the Vltava River and surrounded by landscapes that inspired composer Bedrich Smetana. Enjoy free time to explore the town and have lunch on your own before continuing to Prague. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and settle in. The remainder of the evening is at leisure, with dinner on your own. (B)

Day 4, Thursday February 18: Prague

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Strahov Monastery for a private guided tour of the magnificent Strahov Library. Normally closed to the general public, its historic halls house nearly 300,000 volumes, including thousands of manuscripts dating from before 1500. Your visit includes the stunning Baroque Theological Hall and the grand Philosophical Hall, renowned for its soaring interior and monumental ceiling fresco. Enjoy time for lunch on your own before meeting a local guide for a walking tour of Prague. Discover the city’s historic streets, squares, and landmarks as your guide shares the stories and history of the Czech capital. This evening, attend the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra’s concert at the historic Church of Sts. Simon and Jude. After the performance, join the RPYO for a scenic dinner cruise along the Vltava River, taking in views of Prague illuminated at night. (B,D)

Day 5, Friday February 19: Vienna

After breakfast at your hotel, depart for Austria’s elegant capital city of Vienna. Along the way, enjoy scenic stops to stretch your legs and free time for lunch on your own. Upon arrival in Vienna, check in to your hotel and take time to settle in before gathering for dinner as a group this evening. Following dinner, attend a professional performance at one of Vienna’s renowned music venues, such as the Vienna State Opera, subject to scheduling and availability. (B,D)

Day 6, Saturday February 20: Vienna

On your final day in Vienna, enjoy breakfast before embarking on a guided walking tour of one of the world's great musical capitals. Along the way, see many of the city's most celebrated musical landmarks, including the Vienna State Opera, the Musikverein—home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra—the Mozarthaus, where Mozart lived and composed, and St. Michael's Church, where several of Mozart's works were first performed. Following lunch on your own, enjoy a special champagne reception and private tour of the rafters and attic of St. Stephen's Cathedral, offering a unique perspective on this iconic landmark and breathtaking panoramic views over Vienna's historic center. Later, attend the final RPYO concert at the renowned MuTh Concert Hall, home of the world-famous Vienna Boys' Choir, providing a memorable culmination of your Austrian–Czech musical journey. This evening, celebrate your accomplishments with a traditional Heurigen farewell dinner featuring local cuisine and regional wines as you reflect on the performances, cultural experiences, and lasting friendships formed throughout your tour with RPYO. (B,D)

Day 7, Sunday February 21: Departure

Transfer to the airport for return flight to the United States. (B)
