Itinerary
The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.
Day 1, Saturday July 10: Overnight Flight
Departure from the United States.
Day 2, Sunday July 11: Prague
Welcome to Prague! Arrive and meet your Encore Tour Manager. This evening, there will be a special welcome dinner together in a local restaurant! (D)
Day 3, Monday July 12: Prague
This morning, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the city’s highlights from the Castle to the Old Town! A local expert will show us the quaint Malá Strana (Czech for “Lesser Quarter,” named for its location at the foot of Prague's ancient castle, and featured heavily in the movie Amadeus), the graceful Charles Bridge, built during the 14th century and the beautiful Old Town Square. This afternoon take a pilgrimage to Dvorak's birthplace at Nelahozeves, before returning to Prague to enjoy a dinner cruise on the River Vltava! (B,D)
Day 4, Tuesday July 13: Prague
This morning take a tour of the historic Estates Theater, restored to the original grandeur which saw Mozart himself conduct the premiere of Don Giovanni. In the afternoon, you will rehearse at the famous Smetana Hall, home of the Prague Symphony, in preparation for your first concert performance tonight as part of the Musica Orbis orchestral concert series. Dinner is provided before the concert (B,D)
Day 5, Wednesday July 14: Wroclaw/Breslau
This morning check out and depart north towards Poland, to wonderful city of Wroclaw, with an optional stop-off in the Giant Mountains National Park. On arrival, check into the hotel, freshen up and have dinner together. (B,D)
Day 6, Thursday July 15: Wroclaw/Breslau
A local guide will take you on a walking sightseeing tour this morning, taking in one of the largest market squares in Europe. The symbol of the city is a cute bronze dwarf, and you'll find more than 40 amusing sculptures of the little fellow as you explore the city. In the afternoon, transfer to the venue to set up and rehearse for tonight's concert at a local venue such as the Wroclaw Academy of Music. Dinner will be together in a local restaurant. (B,D)
Day 7, Friday July 16: Krakow
Check out of your hotel this morning and travel to the stunning city of Krakow. En route, you will learn more about the tragedy of the European Holocaust today as you visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp, now a heartbreaking memorial to the more than one million Jews who died here. On arrival in Krakow, check into your next hotel and have dinner together in a Polish restaurant. (B,D)
Day 8, Saturday July 17: Krakow
Begin your day with a guided sightseeing tour to include the Wawel Castle, and the iconic market square and Cloth Hall. This afternoon, enjoy free time in beautiful Krakow before transferring to the venue to set up and rehearse. Your next concert performance will take place today at a local venue such as the Krakow Philharmonic Hall. (B,D)
Day 9, Sunday July 18: Krakow
After breakfast take a trip to the spectacular salt mines at Wieliczka: descend into the intricate caverns and experience the Blessed Kinga Chapel, an underground cathedral of salt! Later return to Krakow for a traditional Klezmer music and dance workshop in the Jewish quarter, followed by dinner together with folklore entertainment (B,D)
Day 10, Monday July 19: Departure
Transfer to the airport for return flight to the United States. (B)
