Itinerary

The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.

Day 1, Wednesday March 22: Overnight Flight

Departure from the United States.

Day 2, Thursday March 23: Vienna

Arrive at Vienna and transfer to your city center hotel. Your Tour Manager will lead you on a brief orientation tour of the area, before you take dinner together. (D)

Day 3, Friday March 24: Vienna

Discover the architectural wonders from the great Stephansdom Cathedral and Baroque castles to the 19th century Ringstrasse lined with grand buildings, monuments and parks. Your morning panoramic guided tour will include the highlights of the city including the Stephansdom, Vienna Opera and Hofburg Palace. This afternoon spend some time exploring the city center, before your concert in a venue such as the Gläsener Saal. End your day with a dinner together at a local restaurant. (B,D)

Day 4, Saturday March 25: Vienna

This morning, travel the short distance outside Vienna to Eisenstadt, home for many years to the composer Joseph Haydn, to enjoy a guided tour through the Esterházy Palace including the 17th century 'Haydnsaal' with its wonderful acoustics, where Haydn himself conducted! Entrance is also included to the Haydn Mausoleum at the Haydnkirche where the great composer rests. Return to the city for dinner and visit to the Prater amusement park (B,D)

Day 5, Sunday March 26: Salzburg

Depart Vienna this morning and enjoy a picturesque drive through the countryside on the way to Salzburg. Your journey could be broken by a visit to the famous Melk monastery, or the Mondsee lake with the cathedral featured in the 'Sound of Music' movie. Arrive in Salzburg in time for dinner (B,D)

Day 6, Monday March 27: Salzburg

Discover the enchanting sights of the musical city of Salzburg on a guided sightseeing tour. Journey through the historical town to see the Mozartplatz, the cathedral, Pegasus Fountain, and Mirabell Gardens, and including a visit to Mozart's Birthplace Museum and the funicular railway up to the castle. Later today participate in a masterclass/workshop with an eminent local music director. Dinner tonight is in a local restaurant. (B,D)

Day 7, Tuesday March 28: Salzburg

This morning after breakfast take a trip through the Salzkammergut mountains, where 'the Hills are Alive'. Today you'll visit the salt mines at Hallein, where you will learn all about the history and importance of salt or "white gold" on a guided tour: descend into the mine on slides and then board a boat for a trip on an underground lake! Spend the rest of the afternoon in the impossibly picturesque town of Hallstatt, before returning to Salzburg in time for a farewell dinner together (B,D)

Day 8, Wednesday March 29: Departure

Transfer to the airport for return flight to the United States. (B)
