Itinerary
The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.
Day 1, Thursday June 18: Overnight Flight
Depart from LAX for your concert tour of France.
Day 2, Friday June 19: Normandy Area
Bienvenue en France! Meet your Encore Tour Manager on arrival and journey to the Normandy area with a stop en route in Rouen for a walking tour with your Tour manager and time for lunch on your own. Continue to Caen for hotel check in, a special welcome dinner at a local restaurant and the overnight. (D)
Day 3, Saturday June 20: Loire Valley
Today walk in the footsteps of history as you visit many of Normandy's important World War II sites. You will pay tribute to the heroic fallen at the American Cemetery and Memorial at Colleville-sur-Mer where at 11:30 am, perform as part of a wreath laying ceremony. Descend from the bluff to walk along Omaha Beach, where American troops suffered some of the heaviest D-Day losses. Continue to the Loire Valley where you will check into your next hotel and have dinner together. (B,D)
Day 4, Sunday June 21: Loire Valley
Today visit the chateaux of the Loire Valley where French kings of the Middle Ages and Renaissance spent their summers. Visit imposing Chambord. Then, you will have the opportunity to perform your next concert as part of an exchange with a local ensemble, at the elegant Chateau de Blois. First rehearse from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm, then enjoy a delicious dinner before tonight's 8:00 pm concert. (B,D)
Day 5, Monday June 22: Paris
Check out of your hotel and journey to Paris today. Upon arrival, your exploration begins with a visit to Louis XIV's palace at Versailles, including the Hall of Mirrors and Marie Antoinette's Hameau and Petit Trianon. These “small” cottages are delightful for their scale and grounds. Continue to Paris center for check in at your hotel, dinner at a local restaurant, and the overnight. (B,D)
Day 6, Tuesday June 23: Paris
After breakfast at your hotel, meet a locall guide for a panoramic city trour of Paris that highlights the many stunning sites of The City of Lights from the Champs-Elysees, Napoleon's final resting place at Les Invalides and the Gothic wonder of Notre Dame. Next, enjoy a guided tour of The Palais Garnier (Paris Opera)...the setting for The Phantom of the Opera. This afternoon, rehearse for your farewell concert at La Madeleine Church. After a farwell dinner at a local restaurant, gain a completely different perspective of the city as you enjoy a serene boat cruise on the Seine. (B,D)
Day 7, Wednesday June 24: Departure
After breakfast at your hotel and check out, transfer to the airport for your return flight to LA. (B)
