NEC Pianist Performance Tour to Germany

The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.

Day 1, Friday June 20: Overnight Flight

Departure from the United States.

Day 2, Saturday June 21: Weimar

Arrive in Frankfurt airport and meet your Tour Manager! Then transfer to Weimer where you'll have some free time to enjoy lunch on your own. In the afternoon, check into your hotel and enjoy dinner together. This evening, you'll depart for nearby Erfurt to attend an organ concert in Erfurt's St. Mary's Cathedral at 7:30pm! After the concert, return to Weimar. (B,D)

Day 3, Sunday June 22: Weimar

After breakfast, which included each day of the tour, have a practice session at the Belvedere School this morning. After some free time for lunch on your own, meet your local guide to begin a sightseeing tour. Weimar is one of the great cultural sites of Europe, having been home to such luminaries as Bach, Goethe, Schiller, and Herder. This afternoon you'll visit Goethe Gartenhaus, Goethe's first residence in Weimar in 1776. After your tour, transfer to the Musiksalon Liszt-Haus Weimar to prepare for the first recital of the tour, which will take place at 6:00pm! (B,D)

Day 4, Monday June 23: Weimar

After breakfast this morning, have another 2-hour practice session at the Belvedere School, followed by a Masterclass with Professor Müller! This afternoon, enjoy some free time to explore on your own or with your Tour Manager beofre coming together for dinner this evening. (B,D)

Day 5, Tuesday June 24: Weimar

This morning, have a masterclass with Professor Muller in the Belvedere School. After some free time for lunch, board the coach for an excursion to Eisench. Upon arrival, Take a guided tour of the city visiting St. George's Church, where Bach was baptized! You'll also get to visit to the Bach Museum as well as the Luther House before enjoying dinner together in a local restaurant. Following dinner, return to Weimar. (B,D)

Day 6, Wednesday June 25: Leipzig

Check out of your hotel and drive to Leipzig, capital of Saxony, where J.S. Bach served for 27 years as choirmaster of St. Thomas Choir School! Check into your hotel before having a two-hour walking tour with a local guide, including St. Thomas Church (admission included), where Bach is buried, and St. Nicholas' Church. Later today you will have a masterclass with Prof. Caspar Frantz. Enjoy dinner together in the hotel this evening. (B,D)

Day 7, Thursday June 26: Leipzig

After breakfast, have a practice session at a local music school followed by a Master Class with Professor Caspar Frantz. Have some time to enjoy lunch on your own this afternoon. Later, you'll have rehearsal before presenting your final performance at the Schumann House this evening at 6:00pm! Enjoy dinner together this evening after your final recital! (B,D)

Day 8, Friday June 27: Leipzig

This morning, visit the Mendelssohn House and Thomaskirche. Then enjoy some free time in Leipzig this afternoon before your farewell dinner this evening! (B,D)

Day 9, Saturday June 28: Departure

Transfer to the airport for return flight to the United States. (B)
