Itinerary
The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.
Day 1, Friday February 19: New Orleans
Arrive in New Orleans and meet your Encore Tour Manager before embarking on an immersive journey through the historic French Quarter. Explore the Vieux Carré with one of the city's best guides, from the bustling Mississippi River to the charming hidden courtyards. Along the way, uncover the fascinating history of Creole culture, colonial influences, and legendary figures like the infamous pirate Jean Lafitte. Key stops include the vibrant French Market, the storied Jean Lafitte Blacksmith Shop, the iconic Jackson Square, and the breathtaking Saint Louis Cathedral. After the tour, check into your hotel and take some time to unwind before heading to Tujague's Restaurant, one of New Orleans' oldest and most beloved Creole dining establishments, for a memorable dinner. Day 2, Saturday February 20: New Orleans
Begin the day with a Private Clinic at Loyola University, where your ensemble can refine their skills under the guidance of expert faculty in a world-class setting. After an inspiring session, enjoy lunch on your own in the Garden District, a picturesque neighborhood known for its historic mansions, charming cafés, and vibrant atmosphere. In the afternoon, step into history at the National WWII Museum, one of the nation's most renowned museums, offering a powerful and immersive experience. Conclude the evening with a delightful dinner at The Court of Two Sisters, where you'll enjoy classic Creole cuisine in a historic and enchanting courtyard setting, surrounded by the magic of New Orleans. End the night on a high note and attend an orchestral performance depending on availabilty. (B,D)
Day 3, Sunday February 21: New Orleans
Start the day with an unforgettable Swamp Tour, where you'll glide through Louisiana's mysterious bayous, spotting wildlife like alligators, herons, and turtles while learning about the region's unique ecosystem and Cajun heritage. After this immersive adventure, share the joy of music with a performance with another local conservatory, creating a meaningful and uplifting experience for both performers and audience members depending on availabilty. As the evening approaches, prepare for a magical night on the Steamboat Natchez Dinner Jazz Cruise, where you'll enjoy a delightful meal while drifting along the mighty Mississippi River. The evening will be filled with the soulful sounds of New Orleans jazz, breathtaking river views, and the timeless charm of one of the last authentic steamboats in the city. (B,D)
Day 4, Monday February 22: Departure
Start the final day of your New Orleans adventure with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, fueling up for a morning of history and reflection. Your Encore Tour Manager will accompany the group throughout the day's activities, with transportation included for a seamless experience. Begin with a tour and visit to Congo Square at Louis Armstrong Park, a historic and culturally significant site where African slaves once gathered to practice pure West African religious rituals and musical traditions—the only place in North America where this was permitted. Considered the birthplace of New Orleans music, Congo Square played a vital role in shaping jazz, blues, and so much of the world's most beloved music. After this inspiring visit, it's time to transfer to the airport, bidding farewell to the vibrant city of New Orleans but taking with you unforgettable memories of music, culture, and history. Safe travels! (B)
