Itinerary
The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.
Day 1, Monday December 7: Overnight Flight
Departure from the United States.
Day 2, Tuesday December 8: Strasbourg
Arrive into Frankfurt and and meet your tour manager before transferring to your first hotel in the city of Strasbourg for a welcome to France! Have some time to freshen up and head out for a welcome dinner and city orientation this evening with your tour manager. (D)
Day 3, Wednesday December 9: Strasbourg
Embark on a Strasbourg canal cruise this morning to enjoy the sights of the city from the water. Later spend time in one of the oldest Christmas markets in France, dating back to 1570 and featuring over 300 booths selling traditional crafts and local delicacies. This evening perform your first concert, potentially a shared concert with a local choir before enjoying a potluck dinner together tonight. (B,D)
Day 4, Thursday December 10: Strasbourg
This morning cross the Rhine river to explore the city of Freiburg, capital of the Black Forest region, taking in the biggest Christmas market in southwest Germany. Later re-cross the river to the town of Riquewihr, heart of the Alsace wine-making region, for a tasting of local wines and produce. Return to Strasbourg in time for dinner. (B,D)
Day 5, Friday December 11: Rothenburg
This morning you’ll depart for Germany, stopping first in the city of Heidelberg. Surrounded by forest, Germany’s oldest and most famous university town is renowned for its baroque Altstadt, beautiful riverside setting and evocative half-ruined hilltop castle, which inspired the works of the many 18th and 19th century Romantics, such as the poet Goethe and Britain’s artist, William Turner. Later continue your journey to Rothenburg ob der Tauber and check in to your next hotel. Dinner tonight is together in a local restaurant, before discovering the city on a traditional 'night watchman' walking tour. (B, D)
Day 6, Saturday December 12: Rothenburg
Spend the day exploring Rothenburg, a quintessentially German city that’s famous for its well-preserved, centuries-old buildings. Dotted with fountains, towers and turrets, the city is made for sightseeing by foot. You may even happen upon the Kathe Wohlfahrt store, the world's only year-round Christmas shopping experience! Today you'll perform in a local concert hall before an indepdendent dinner tonight (B)
Day 7, Sunday December 13: Salzburg
After breakfast check out and make the journey to Salzburg. En route visit the second largest city in Germany and capital of the Bavaria region, Munich. Here you'll have an extended stop in the city including a visit to the world-famous Hofbrauhaus brewery and time to explore the city's Christmas market: it may even be possble to perform together with Munich's own LGBTQ+ choir. Later continue to check into your final hotel of the tour in Salzburg, the city of Mozart and the Sound of Music, in time for an independent dinner (B,L)
Day 8, Monday December 14: Salzburg
This morning begin your exploration of Salzburg on a guided sightseeing tour of the city. Located in the Salzach River Valley, Salzburg has been described as 'all of Europe in concentrated form' with a castle, cathedral, squares, gardens, spires and rivers. The city's beauty and vibrant musical life have made it one of Europe's foremost cultural cities. The tour takes in various locations from the Sound of Music movie, the stunning Baroque Dom Cathedral, and culminates in a visit to Mozart’s Birthplace Museum on the main shopping street, the Getreidegasse. This afternoon you will channel your inner Alpine musician as you take part in a traditional yodelling workshop! Tonight's dinner is indepdendent in Salzburg (B)
Day 9, Tuesday December 15: Salzburg
Today you'll explore the Salzburgerland region, including the picture postcard town of Hallstatt. Take a cable car to the famous Salt Mines, where you'll descent into the mountain to learn all about the 'white gold' that gave the region its name. Tonight's farewell concert could be in the local Protestant Church in the town. Later return to Salzburg for a farewell dinner (B,D)
Day 10, Wednesday December 16: Departure
Transfer to Munich airport for return flight to the United States. (B)
