Itinerary

The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.

Day 1, Friday March 12: Overnight Flight

Departure from the United States.

Day 2, Saturday March 13: Salzburg

Your Tour Manager will meet you upon arrival in Munich this morning and transfer you to the musical city of Salzburg, Austria. Located in the Salzach River Valley, Salzburg is one of the most picturesque of all European cities - indeed, it is all of Europe in concentrated form with a castle, cathedral, squares, gardens, spires and rivers. The city's most famous son is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and you will see references to him in the city at every turn! Enjoy a traditional Austrian dinner together this evening to begin your European adventure! (D)

Day 3, Sunday March 14: Salzburg

Discover the enchanting sights of the musical city of Salzburg on a guided sightseeing tour encompassing both ends of the musical spectrum between Mozart and The Sound of Music. Walk through the historical town to see some of the movie location such as the Mozartplatz, the cathedral, Pegasus Fountain, and Mirabell Gardens. Take in Mozart's Birthplace Museum in the heart of the city before taking the funicular up to the Festung fortress that dominates the city. This evening, rehearse and perform your first concert in conjunction wiht a local music school before dinner together. (B,D)

Day 4, Monday March 15: Vienna

Check out of the hotel and make your first stop in the picture postcard town of Hallstatt. Here dive underground to learn all about the 'white gold' that brought great wealth and gave Salzburg its name, as you explore the salt mines by underground train, boat, and slides! Later continue your journey to Vienna to check in and take dinner together. Tonight pay an evening visit to the interactive House of Music museum, where you can try your hand at conducting the virtual Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra! (B,D)

Day 5, Tuesday March 16: Vienna

Vienna is the historical center of the musical world as well as being a UNESCO heritage city. Explore the rich heritage of the city on your guided sightseeing tour, including the Mozart House, the spectacular St Stephens Cathedral, the Opera House and the Musikverein, home of the Vienna Philharmonic. Later participate in a masterclass/workshop with a member of the string section of that venerable orchestra. Tonight perform your final Austrian concert of the tour in a venue such as the Castle Hall in Perchtoldsdorf. (B,D)

Day 6, Wednesday March 17: Prague

Today after checking out of your hotel, make the short journey to Eisenstadt, home of Joseph Haydn. Enjoy a guided tour through the Esterházy Palace including the 17th century "Haydnsaal" with its wonderful acoustics. Entrance is also included to the Haydn Mausoleum in the nearby church. Later continue your journey to Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, and check in to your hotel in time for dinner (B,D)

Day 7, Thursday March 18: Prague

Wake up in the capital city of Prague, the perfectly preserved jewel of the Czech Republic. After breakfast, take a guided walking tour of historic Prague. See the major highlights of this beautiful city as you pass through the Castle district, the Lesser Town, on to Charles Bridge, through the Old Town and to the medieval Astronomical Clock. In the afternoon participate in a workshop/masterclass with an eminent local conductor. Have dinner together in a local restaurant. (B,D)

Day 8, Friday March 19: Prague

This morning visit the Estates Theater, still a working opera house where Mozart's Don Giovanni received its premiere in 1787! Later today perform your final concert of the tour in a hall such as the Korunni hall or Hlahol concert hall. Tonight, celebrate your successful concert tour with a farewell dinner cruise on the River Vltava. (B,D)

Day 9, Saturday March 20: Departure

Transfer to the airport for return flight to the United States.
