Norwalk Youth Symphony Shadow Tour

The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.

Day 1, Sunday June 21: Overnight Flight

Departure from the United States.

Day 2, Monday June 22: Montecatini

Arrive in Florence. Meet your Tour Manager at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Montecatini for check-in. Enjoy dinner together this evening. (D)

Day 3, Tuesday June 23: Montecatini

After breakfast, which is included each morning of the tour, depart for the medieval walled town of Lucca. Enjoy free time for independent sightseeing and lunch. This evening attend the performance of the NYS at the Terme Tettucio in Montecatini (pending approval). (B,D)

Day 4, Wednesday June 24: Montecatini

After breakfast, meet a local guide for a walking tour of Florence which shows you Santa Croce, the Duomo and Ghiberti's famous Baptistry Doors. You will also visit the Accademia to see Michaelangelo's "David". Spend some free time exploring Florence and immersing yourself in the local culture, perhaps with a stroll across the Ponte Vecchio or a taste of gelato at Vivoli's. Enjoy dinner this evening together. (B,D)

Day 5, Thursday June 25: Rome

This morning, check out of your hotel and visit the beautiful Tuscan towns of San Gimignano and Siena. Then arrive in Orvieto, where you will attend the next concert of the NYS at the Teatro Mancinelli (pending approval). Continue to Rome where you will check into your hotel. (B)

Day 6, Friday June 26: Rome

Sightseeing with a local guide includes a panoramic drive of the Eternal City's highlights, including the Circus Maximus, Baths of Caracalla, and Monument of Vittorio Emanuele (Rome's "Wedding Cake"). This afternoon/evening attend the final performance of the tour. A possible venue is the Santa Maria Sopra Minerva. (B)

Day 7, Saturday June 27: Rome

Meet a local guide for a visit to St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel with whispers headsets. Enjoy free time on your own this afternoon and evening. (B)

Day 8, Sunday June 28: Rome

This morning, you’ll visit the Colosseum and Roman Forum to have a better understanding of Ancient Rome. Enjoy free time this afternoon to explore Rome on your own. Then enjoy a final dinner together this evening (B,D)

Day 9, Monday June 29: Departure

Transfer to the airport for return flight to the United States. (B)
