Itinerary
The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.
Day 1, Sunday June 6: Overnight Flight
Departure from the United States.
Day 2, Monday June 7: London
Welcome to London! Meet your Encore Tour Manager, and transfer to your hotel, with an orientation tour on board your coach of London's main sights. Enjoy dinner together at the hotel followed by a welcome tour meeting this evening (D)
Day 3, Tuesday June 8: London
Today explore London 's art scene with your tour manager on London public transport. Visit National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery in the famous Trafalgar Square. The collections feature Western European masters of 13-20 centuries, as well as portraits of important people in British history and culture. This evening, enjoy a pre-theatre dinner in Southbank, followed by a performance at the National theatre London (or Barbican) – subject to final programming. (B,D)
Day 4, Wednesday June 9: London
This morning, travel with your tour manager on public transport to South Kensington and enjoy a visit to Victoria & Albert Museum, its collection spanning over 5,000 years of fine art and design creations from all over the world. Spend time in Hyde Park and neighbouring Kensington Gardens, home to Kensington Palace. You can see the changing of the guard at the Buckingham Palace (subject to schedule and weather conditions). Dinner tonight is in a local restaurant (B,D) All the world may be a stage, but to get an authentic feel of Shakespeare's theater it is essential to visit the reconstructed Globe Theatre along the Thames Embankment. Today, you will attend a workshop, conducted by actors, that introduces you to both the plays of Shakespeare and the conditions in which Elizabethan actors worked. The group will be divided into two sessions, each alternating between the workshop and a walking tour of the Thames area with your tour managers. Tonight, dine like a local in one of London's famed pubs! (B,D)
Day 5, Thursday June 10: London
Today, explore spectacular Covent Garden and enjoy a guided tour behind the scenes at The Royal Opera house. Learn about the history of this world-famous theatre and about the costumes and sets that bring each production to life. Continue with a visit to Handel & Hendrix House, bringing together classical music heritage, rock’n’roll legend and Georgian London architecture. After an early dinner, enjoy a spectacular performance at one of London’s famous West-End theatres – subject to final programming. (B,D)
Day 6, Friday June 11: Paris
This morning transfer to the stunning St Pancras Station and depart on the Eurostar train, whisking you to Paris under the English Channel in under 3 hours. In the afternoon take a panoramic tour of Paris including the main sights such as the Eiffel Tower , the Arc de Triomphe, the newly restored Notre Dame Cathedral and the Champs Elysees. Dinner tonight is at your hotel (B,D)
Day 7, Saturday June 12: Paris
This morning ascend to the second level of the Eiffel Tower for spectacular views over Paris and the surrounding lands from over 350 feet up! Later pay a visit to the Louvre, one of the most famous galleries in the world, and experience some of the greatest ever artworks up close, including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. Dinner tonight is in a Parisian restaurant. (B,D)
Day 8, Sunday June 13: Paris
This morning explore the wonderful work of the Impressionists at the Musee d'Orsay where some of the largest works of Manet and Monet are housed. From the historic to the modern, this aftenroon you'll explore the City of Music, housing the Philharmonie concert hall and the interactive and informative Museum of Music. (B,D)
Day 9, Monday June 14: Paris
Today we turn our attention to the vocal arts as you explore the famous Opera Garnier on a guided tour behind the scenes of this iconic opera house. Later we'll explore the artists' haunt of Montmartre before a traditional Parisian dinner tonight. (B,D)
Day 10, Tuesday June 15: Amsterdam
Depart on the high speed Eurostar service from Paris Gare du Nord directly to Amsterdam. On arrival begin exploring this charming capital 'city-on-the-water' with your tour manager, before dinner together in your hotel (B,D)
Day 11, Wednesday June 16: Amsterdam
After breakfast walk to Museumplein for a visit to the Van Gogh Museum. After your visit enjoy a canal cruise through Amsterdam’s UNESCO-listed canal district, before a lunch stop in the city. This afternoon continue your exploration of the Dutch Masters as you visit the Rembrandt House Museum. (B,D)
Day 12, Thursday June 17: Amsterdam
This morning you'll visit the Rijksmuseum, the most visited museum in the Netherlands. The museum has on display 8,000 objects of art and history, from their total collection of 1 million objects from the years 1200–2000, among which are some masterpieces by Rembrandt, Frans Hals, and Johannes Vermeer. This afternoon you have the option to visit one of three musuems: The Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art, the FOAM – Photography Museum Amsterdam, or the National Opera and Ballet. After dinner attend an orchestral performance at the Royal Concertgebouw (subject to program confirmation) (B,D)
Day 13, Friday June 18: Departure
